09.00 Centaurs at Home

The Centaur Village can be visited every morning. Centaurs have to be washed and combed, trained and aired. Sometimes guests come for a cup of coffee; perhaps they will play some music or sing a song, perhaps they have their pets with them.

You are welcome to join the Centaurs at home!

10.00 Across the Stream

A stream runs along the back side of the park, winding its way from the lake to the river. A wood overlooks the plants and grass hiding the houses on the hill. They wait for bare feet to feel the water and Centaurs to show the way through the trees until they finally reach the statues around the corner.

11.00 Into the Wild

HFKD has taken a different twist on the theme of the week – ”The Wild West”- and composed a group exhibition with some of the most current contemporary Danish artists, all of whom use “The wild” as part of their works. The artists all have a common interest for nature and spirituality. The exhibition is composed of works of art with a general common theme about venturing into the unknown, the wild and the foreign, expressing the incomprehensible nature and the spirituality connected to it. The unknown is what is not yet discovered – what is foreign – and often associated with a particular notion or expectation. An exciting and thought-provoking exhibition by contemporary artists at a high professional level.

Opening hours: Friday 12-16, Saturday – Sunday 11-17
The exhibition is open from 10th June – 30th July
The exhibition is curated by Anna Bak, made in collaboration with Danish Talent Academy and supported by the Danish Arts Foundation, Færchfonden and Holstebro Municipality.

House of Art and Design is an education and exhibition house, primarily for contemporary art. It is the meeting point between a professional, creative arts environment and young students from Danish Talent Academy. The House prioritises communication and dialogue with citizens and the environment.

13.00 Music in the Bog

In an old and very grand landscaped garden by the Storåen, old legends and traditions are brought back to life. Once upon a time the Elves danced in the bog, now students and teachers from the Holstebro Music School play music and the Ballet School students dance. It’s classical, it’s art, it’s man sensing the divine in nature.

15.00 Halfdansk rapsodi Ulfborg

Iben Nagel Rasmussen, actress at Odin Teatret, talks about her father, Halfdan Rasmussen; a wild story about the skinny working class boy, who became all Danes’ Halfdan. With poetry reading, songs, photos and film fragments, Iben Nagel Rasmussen will create a collage depicting the more unknown side of Halfdan: his childhood, being one of many children, living with his family in a two-bedroom apartment in Christianshavn, the early youth with unemployment, political engagement of the 30s, a stay in a “højskole”, a travel on bicycle to Spain, at a time when the Civil War was raging, his encounter with other young aspiring poets at the Young Artists’ Club during the German occupation, and onward to the road of recognition and fame.

HALFDANSK RAPSODI is not a children’s performance, but rather a journey into the sometimes bleak background from which Halfdan’s grown-up poems grew out of, richly peppered with peculiar, fun, off centre and characteristic rhymes, which came to be his signature as a poet.

Director and performer: Iben Nagel Rasmussen, actress, Odin Teatret

15.00 The three ages

All three of them are there at the same time: the three ages of one Centaur-woman. A child-Centaur laughs as she trots while brushing her hair. Now, as a woman, she stretches and takes her time, untangling her long ocean deep hair. Then she stands, almost motionless, passing her hands through her silver mane. It is the supreme art of caressing; the infinite nostalgia of repeating the same movement for a lifetime. We see life in a single instant, in the short moment of a caress.

The platform will host works of local artists and involves citizens, local associations, schools and scout groups as well as local and international artistic groups. Every day different guests will populate the island from 17:00 to 18:00. On 17 June we will create the final feast event in collaboration with Holstebro Regatta // Reb & Ror, which will bring life to the whole river.

21.00 Requiem for a centaur

We are in the church, it is almost dark, the organ plays gentle, unknown and seductive music. The Centaur is there, with only his back visible. He dances, trembles, arches in the delicate light. The body shivers and a soul vanishes. The audience stands close to distinguish the slightest movements that disclose the quiet moments of life.

The performance lasts 10 minutes.

22.15 Ascetica

In the middle of the woods, from between the trees, singers appear with light in their hands. The human voice is the continuous force of the performance ASCETICA, creating a strong and moving experience. “ASCETICA: Salvatores Dei” (The Savior of God) is a spiritual text written as a gospel by the world-renowned Greek author Nikos Kazantzakis from Iraklion, Crete (1883-1957). ASCETICA is also a research into the relationship between theatre and ceremony. With ASCETICA, OMMA Studio Theatre wishes to connect people – to recreate the lost relationship between people – the performance shapes itself as a transitional ritual.

23.30 Towards the Milky Way

Birds do it. People do it. Oceangoing seals do it: let themselves be guided by the faint starry band called the Milky Way. Even the tiniest insects find their way by the stripe of light generated by our galaxy, and every night during Festuge all kinds of nocturnal beings move by the light of this highway in the sky, the Milky Way, on their way to the Midnight Ritual at the park.

23.50 Centaurs of the night

At midnight mythological figures, centaurs and ghosts appear to meet up with real and fictitious characters under the glow of the Milky Way. They remind us of stories that belong to a poetic part of ourselves which lives in the shadows. In broad day-light it disappears. But at midnight time stops and a gentle wildness takes control of our imagination.
