Omma Studio Theatre (Greece)

Omma Studio Theatre is one of the 13 partners in the grand European Social Community Theatre project Caravan NExt.

The theatre group “OMMA Studio” was founded by Antonis Diamantis in 1996. Their work challenges the audience with new theatre codes. The group call their form of theatre “Space Theatre” as they wish to change the perception of time and space with their scenic presence and through their physical actions. They usually perform in non-theatrical spaces, for example old warehouses, abandoned buildings or old schools, both in Greece and abroad. They have several years of experience with street performances, where conditions cannot be controlled. The work of OMMA Studio Theater is inspired and influenced by the work of Jerzy Grotowski and entirely, fundamentally by Eugenio Barba’s Odin Teatret. They have won the Golden Mask Prize in Russia and the Best Foreign Performing Award in Iran. At home in Iraklion, Crete, they organise festivals and have a permanent laboratory for actors, dancers and teachers.
